Dialogue and Updates

dialoguebanneritchioDialogue

It’s been a while since I updated! I’ve been spending most of my time working on Dialogue: A Writer’s Story, which finally has a release date – November 8th! It’s been a while since I started working on this game, and it’s so good for it to finally be out. Here’s what the game is about, if you’re interested, and you can find out more from its website or buy it here. Read the rest of this entry »

The Broad Strokes Cooking Game

The Broad Strokes Cooking Game

For those of you who like short games (or just have five minutes to spare), the Broad Strokes Cooking Game is up on itch.io. You’ve got family or friends visiting, and you want to cook something nice, like a risotto or some stew. You follow the on-screen instructions (simple things like Chop! or Stir!) and go through every step of making the recipe. The idea  is to make people feel more comfortable with the recipe after trying it a few times, since you’ll be carrying out every step (as opposed to cutting between various mini-game style steps, which doesn’t often feel as satisfying to me).

Dialogue Demo

DialogueCoverDemo

The demo version of Dialogue: A Writer’s Story is up on itch.io [Edit – the demo of Dialogue is no longer available, now that the game has released here]. If you enjoy stories, narrative games, voice acting or just everyday conversations, give it a try. If you’re still on the fence, here’s a description of the game:

In Dialogue, you play as Lucille, a writer in her mid-twenties, as she carries out conversations with her friends, family and neighbours while writing her second novel.

During the game, you’ll have many opportunities to steer the conversation one way or another, but it still follows Lucille’s story. You can experience and explore that story differently, but Lucille is still her own character, and the story cannot be largely derailed.

If you’re already familiar with story-based games, you can think of Dialogue as a cross between a visual novel and a text-based game, but that’s only scratching the surface. The game is fully voice-acted, with art inspired by European cartoons and mechanisms of interaction that unfold as the game progresses.

Dialogue: A Writer’s Story

If you’re interested in video games, I’ve written a short post on our upcoming game, Dialogue: A Writer’s Story, set to release during the next few months. Communication is the focus of Dialogue, and as such, the player will spend most of their time as Lucille, an aspiring novelist, talking to her acquaintances, friends, family, and even characters from her novels.

Death by Dream

CoverDbyD6Oct

As well as working with Tea-Powered Games, I’ve been making a game of my own on the side, called Death by Dream. It’s partially inspired by entries from a dream diary I kept, modified to make for an interesting game. It’s available for free, so give Death by Dream a try and tell me what you think!

Tea-Powered Games website up!

The website for Tea-Powered Games is up and running. For now, you can read a bit more about us as a company, and maybe sign up to the mailing list if you’re interested.

I’ve been spending most of my time doing work-related writing (it’s exciting to be able to call it work now!), but I should go back to posting more regularly, now that things feel a bit more settled.
